Her name... Desiree Greteva Ferdinandez, also known as Dee. An Afro-Latino and about 27yrs old.
With a height of 5ft 6inches, she had a petite stature and was pretty thick in the right places.
As a journalist, she works with New York Daily Rabbit and she was the most sought after and successful investigative journalist in all of New York.
Whenever there was a crisis, she gets first hand information and people would troop to her media pages and blogs to read her writeup.
Being an investigative journalist was a very risky job, especially if you were to stick your nose into the businesses of dangerous people. But for Desiree, she wasn’t the one who’d back down at the slightest threats she would receive.
She was headstrong and determined. Bringing down criminals and drug dealers, was something she did with utmost obstinacy and tenacity.
Orphaned at the age of seven, the only family she had was her uncle and life was the easiest for her not until she chose the path of journalism to uplift herself.
The New York Daily Rabbit was buzzing with activities. News writers and photographers moving here and there while some stood and they were watching a video on a large TV screen.
Some sat on the their desks and they were busy on their computers while a few sat together and they gossiped about some related crisis.
Desiree bursts into the News media department and she was walking briskly towards Director Jones Rotich’s office.
Director Jones was the head of the news media company. He was a tall, scrawny man with light brown hair and a mustache.
He was a serious-minded and no-nonsense person, with a face perpetually bearing a frown.
“Director Jones!” Desiree barges into his office as jones was busy smoking his cigar.
He sat on his swivel chair behind a broad desk, and his legs were crossed.
“Desiree,Oh God,whatever am I going to do to you? Can’t you knock??” He asked while frowning at her.
“Director Jones, I have it. The big apple... the uncovered reports of the mass kidnapping down town.” Desiree said as she drops a file on his desk.
Jones stares at it and then he places the cigar in between his lips. Jones was very fond of Desiree because of her prowess and her tactics.
Her ability to tackle mysteries and solve cases made her famous; to him, she was a grand asset.
He picks up the file document on his table and then he opens it to see what was in it.
“I will read them thoroughly whenever I am less busy.” He said.
“Director Jones,I suggest you read them as soon as possible and then you get back to me.”
Jones raised his gaze to Desiree and then he takes out the cigar from his lips as he relaxes on the backrest.
“Well Dee, have you heard of the latest?” He asked.
Desiree raised a brow skeptically at him.
“What latest?”
“People claimed that an angel was sighted last night. Not only that, he killed two criminals who robbed and murdered a couple.”
Desiree scoffs and then she places her hands on her hips.
“An angel? Oh please, angels don’t exist. It’s just a fairytale cooked up by some religious plebeians, who lived on fantasies of supernatural entities.”
“Well...” he picks up a remote on his desk and then he swerves his chair to face a big television that was hanging on the wall “... see for yourself.”
He switched on the television and a video started playing. Desiree watches as a very tall and burly man with large white wings and he was wearing a battle attire, uses a spear to murder two black men.
She rolls her eyes and then she glances at Jones.
“This could be an act or a staged event.”
Jones pauses the video and he swerved his chair to face Desiree.
“No Dee. The two victims were reported dead and this particular stranger was no where to be found afterwards. From what I see, he went back into the heavens.”
Desiree places a hand on her forehead as she sighs in exasperation.
“Director... there is no such thing as angels. Angels don’t exist.”
Jones taps the butt of the cigar on an ashtray beside him.
“So... are you telling me that God doesn’t exist?”
Desiree places her hands on the desk as she leaned forward towards him.
“I don’t believe in God, Director. Why should I believe in a being that I cannot see? Besides, you don’t even act like one who believes in fables of a being who lives in the sky.”
Jones rumbles out a laughter. Desiree glares at him as she was irritated.
‘Why is he laughing?’ She thought.
Jones presses the butt of his cigar on the ashtray and then he gets up from his chair.
“Alright Dee, I have a meeting to attend and I wanna assign you to a job.”
“What job?”
“I want you to find out who that person is if at all you believe that he ain’t no angel...”
He picks up his hat and then,he takes strides to the exit.
“...people are counting on us to give them mind blowing contents. Our media pages have had a large turn up of followers since last night. People are eagerly waiting for contents and I want you to see to it that you give it to them.”
Desiree was behind him as they moved out of his office.
“How do you expect me to get reports about this... this ‘angel’s’ whereabouts?” She asked.
“Didn’t you say that it was a staged show? ...If it was, then find out who killed those thugs and get us informations about him.”
Desiree flinches.
“But I am not a spy!”
Jones twirls to face her with a smirk on his lips and Desiree frowned on seeing that he was going to taunt her.
“An investigative journalist is equally a spy. Get on with your work,Dee. I will see you later.” He said and then,he walks out on her.
Desiree stood and her eyes were shooting daggers at his back. She places a hand on her forehead and then she moves her french curls away from her face.
“Where the hell am I gonna find such a mysterious person who dresses up as an angel and then kills two people?” She muttered and then she lets out a long sigh.
She glances around to see that her colleagues were in fact staring at her. She rolls her eyes and she began walking to her desk.
‘Another day, another mystery and what am I to do? ...Oh well,I will prove to him that angels doesn’t exist and it was just a serial killer and a no-good psychopath in a costume.’ She thought.
|New York General Hospital,Long Beach, New York|:
The consistent beeping sound of the heartbeat monitor. A nurse stood beside Ramiel as he was still unconscious and she was scribbling words on a notepad.
She checked the satchel on the IB stand to see if the capillary tube was placed correctly, she then glances at Ramiel to see if he was breathing properly.
Meanwhile, Cassiel moves into the ward and then,he stands beside Ramiel. He stares at Ramiel for a while, he then glances at the nurse.
She couldn’t see him standing there as he wasn’t visible to the human eyes. She picks up a syringe from a tray that was laid on a desk at the side of the bed and then, she injects the fluid in the syringe into the satchel on the IB stand.
“Wake up, Ramiel.” Cassiel said.
Ramiel slowly opened his eyes and he was a bit disoriented. His blue orbs glances around and suddenly, he sits up abruptly from the bed.
The nurse shrieked as she was startled. When Ramiel glances at her.
“You can see me?!” He asked with curiosity.
“Yes. Stay down, mister. You are still under medication.” The nurse said.
“Where am I?” He lifts his hands to look at them as he was visibly stunned “ what is this? What am I doing here??”
He lifts the sheets to stare down at his body and he noticed that he was wearing a hospital dress, the nurse quickly looks away from him.
“Let me call the doctor. I will be right back.” She said and then, she quickly left the room.
Ramiel stares at the drip in his hand and he immediately takes it off.
“Welcome to earth, Ramiel. How does it feel to be human?” Cassiel said.
Ramiel glances at him and he was staring at Cassiel blankly.
“Brother? What are you doing here??” He asked.
“Obviously, I am your guardian angel now. Not that I was assigned to you, I just thought that you might need some guidance.”
“Why would I be needing guidance? Wait... are you saying that I am human now?”
“Don’t tell me that you have forgotten so soon? You were cast down from the heavens, landed on earth, brought here by some humans and now, here we are.” Cassiel explained.
Ramiel moves out of the bed and then he walks around the ward.
“I can’t believe this...” he touches his body “... I feel as though I am welterweight and my body feels hot inside in a strange way. I can feel the air on my skin and that thing blasting chilled air, makes me feel a bit cold...” he glances at his feet “... the ground is cold and I...”
The door flung open and the doctor came in with two other nurses.
The doctor was surprised to see him standing and looking disheveled.
“Sir, I advise that you should go back to your bed and we would have to run a check up on you.” The doctor said. He was secretly trembling.
“But I don’t want to stay on the bed. I am perfectly fine now and I should take my leave.”
“Not yet, young man...” the doctor came closer. He held his wrist and then, he leads him to the bed “... we have to run a second scan on you to see if you are in good condition. No broken bones or fractures which is rather strange.”
The doctor sits him on the bed and then, the nurse brings a chair for him to sit on it.
“What’s your name?” The doctor asked.
“Say Louis.” Cassiel said.
“Louis. My name is Louis.” Ramiel replied.
The doctor scribbled his name on the notepad he was holding.
“And where are you from?”
“I don’t—“
“Nashville. Nashville,Tennessee.” Cassiel whispers.
“Nashville sir.” Ramiel said.
The doctor scribbled his reply on the notepad and then, he lifts his head to look at him.
“Okay Louis, I want to know how you got to Long Beach and what happened to you.” The doctor said.
“I... i was...”
“I was traveling to Rochester and I got robbed.” Cassiel whispers.
“I was traveling to Rochester and I got robbed.”
“You got robbed?”
Ramiel nodded.
The doctor cleared his throat and then he glances at the nurses.
“This is a different story from what we were told. Some farmers who brought you here, claimed that you fell from the sky.”
Ramiel scoffs and then he chuckles.
“That’s not true. How can a person fall off from the sky and he or she isn’t dead?”
“I should be asking you. They said so, I was in doubt myself. But even so, you were found naked and in a large crater.”
Ramiel shrugged his shoulders.
“Well... I don’t know how that happened...”
He looked behind him and he saw three demons of death hovering there.
They each wore black hooded cloaks and their bony hands had no flesh. Their faces and feet could not be seen and the hems of the cloak they were wearing was in shreds.
“Is it his time?” Ramiel asked them.
“Yes, it is. This one has cheated death twice and this time, we have come for his soul.” It was the one in the middle that spoke and its eerie voice had the contrast of two tones.
“Tonight, his car brakes will fail and it will run into a truck and he will be smashed to his death.” The one on the left said and Ramiel glances at the doctor who was staring at him as though he was confused. He thought Louis was insane
"Whom are you speaking with? " The doctor asked.
Ramiel lets out a sigh, he then shakes his head.
“Listen Doctor Kennedy,Your car brakes will fail and it will collide with a truck and then, you will die tonight.”
The doctor was petrified and he was staring at Ramiel in disbelief.
“I just thought that I should let you know. It is up to you to believe me or not. That said...” Ramiel gives him a radiant smile “... do you have any spare clothes that I can wear?”
The nurses were captivated by his ethereal handsomeness that they began gushing at him.
“We should have spare clothes. Nurse Jane?” Kennedy glances at her.
“Yes doctor.”
“Bring in some used clothes. Due to his build, he should be wearing larger sizes and he is taller as well. Make it snappy.”
“Yes doctor.” The nurse said and then, she left the ward.
“Thanks Kennedy, you have a good heart.” Ramiel said.
The doctor who was still in shock asked " Who are you?"
"You don't want to know" Ramiel smiled as he responded.
